Transmission properties of nanoscale aperture arrays in metallic masks on optical fibers

چکیده
We report the optical studies of nanohole arrays in metallic coatings on cleaved optical fibers and also on glass substrates. Nanoholes are produced using electron-beam lithography and range in size from 100 to 700 nm; the pitch is varied from 300 to 3000 nm. Transmission properties are examined using visible 632.8 nm and infrared 1550 nm laser light. The observed interference patterns are determined by array symmetry, nanohole diameter, and pitch. Results from the optical fibers are compared with larger array areas fabricated on bulk glass substrates. In all cases the results are simulated using nearand intermediate-field diffraction theory with good agreement. © 2007 American Institute of Physics. DOI: 10.1063/1.2404796

Templated deposition of multiscale periodic metallic nanodot arrays with sub-10 nm gaps on rigid and flexible substrates.
Multiscale metallic nanostrucutures, which support hybrid coupling of plasmon resonances, are essential for the engineering of plasmonic devices. The fabrication of large area periodic multiscale structures still remains a challenge, considering the cost and efficiency. In this work, highly ordered multiscale Ag nanoarrays with lateral dimensions of up to 6 mm × 6 mm have been successfully fabr...
متن کاملDirect evidence for surface plasmon-mediated enhanced light transmission through metallic nanohole arrays.
This paper provides direct evidence for the role of surface plasmons in the enhanced optical transmission of light through metallic nanoscale hole arrays. Near-field optical images directly confirmed the presence of surface plasmons on gold nanohole arrays with interhole spacings larger than the surface plasmon wavelength. A simple interference model provides an intuitive explanation of the two...

The interaction of light with surface plasmons--collective oscillations of free electrons--in metallic nanostructures has resulted in demonstrations of enhanced optical transmission, collimation of light through a subwavelength aperture, negative permeability and refraction at visible wavelengths, and second-harmonic generation from magnetic metamaterials. The structures that display these plas...

Using a single interferometric lithography patterning step along with self-aligned pattern-definition techniques, uniform, large-area metallic coaxial arrays with ~ 100-nm toroidal gaps are fabricated. Enhanced (5x) mid-infrared (4 mum) transmission through these sub-wavelength coaxial arrays is observed as compared with that through the same fractional opening area hole arrays as a result of t...

In this work, thermo-optical properties of gold nanoparticle colloids are studied using continuous wave (CW) laser irradiation at 532 nm. The nanoparticle colloids are fabricated by 18 ns pulsed laser ablation of pure gold plate in the distilled water. The formation of the nanoparticles has been evidenced by optical absorption spectra and transmission electron microscopy. The nonlinear optical ...
